Garden Acres, CA (July 12, 2024) A multi-vehicle crash in Garden Acres on Friday afternoon, July 12th, claimed one person’s life. Authorities reported that the fatal accident took place around 12:40 p.m. on Highway 4, at the intersection of Gillis Road, not far from Stockton.
A semi-truck, a black Dodge pickup truck, a white Honda sedan and a Chevrolet Tahoe SUV were all traveling along Highway 4 on Friday. It was early afternoon when they suddenly collided near Gillis Road. The impact sent the Dodge pickup truck onto its side, officers reported. The other three vehicles sustained major damage and remained on the roadway, blocking traffic. Glass and debris was found in trails all over the roadway, according to reports.
Emergency personnel arrived at the scene and found the damaged vehicles blocking the roadway, with traffic beginning to back up on the highway. They found the occupants of the Dodge pickup trapped inside the vehicle. They were rescued with specialized tools that cut the metal and allowed authorities to easily free them. Paramedics quickly began going from vehicle to vehicle, prepared to help anyone who needed medical attention. Sadly, one person did not survive the collision and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officers took statements and gathered evidence at the scene before requesting tow trucks to come and remove damaged vehicles from the roadway. Crews had to clean up the glass and debris from the intersection. It had been thrown in every direction and took a while before the roadway was fully reopened to motorists. Officers are working to determine what exactly happened to cause these four vehicles to collide on Highway 4 in Garden Acres. They are also determined to figure out who was responsible.
