San Luis Obispo County, CA (July 11, 2024) A head-on collision between two vehicles on the fourth of July, left one person with injuries. The accident occurred on Highway 46 in Victorville, at the Cholame Y Interchange, according to reports. It all took place just minutes after 9:30 p.m.
A vehicle was on Highway 46, ready to make a left turn onto Highway 41, officers reported. At the same time, another vehicle was heading west on Highway 46. The two vehicles approached the intersection at the same time, reports indicated. The first vehicle attempted to turn left directly in the path of the second vehicle, that was heading west. The two vehicles collided, officers reported. The head-on collision left more than one person, including children, trapped inside a vehicle, officers reported.
The California Highway Patrol hurried to the scene and found the two vehicles blocking the highway. They requested the fire department to come to the scene and help remove those trapped from their vehicles. Paramedics transported at least one person to a nearby hospital to receive treatment for non-life-threatening injuries, reports indicated.
Officers are working to determine what exactly happened at that Victorville intersection on July 4th. Following the initial investigation at the scene, crews worked to clean up the highway from debris and glass so motorists could continue using the highway. Officers requested a tow truck to remove at least one of the vehicles from the scene.
