University Park, Los Angeles, CA (March 18, 2024) A community was saddened to learn about a two-vehicle collision on the 10 Freeway in the University Park area of downtown Los Angeles on Sunday afternoon. The accident left 6 people, including children, injured and claimed the life of 26-year-old Jordy Martin Recinos, according to officers.
Two vehicles collided on the 10 Freeway between the University of Southern California and downtown Los Angeles, reports indicated. Mere minutes after 3:00 p.m., a pickup and another vehicle collided for reasons still unknown. The pickup rolled and finally came to a stop on its roof, officers said.
Emergency personnel hurried to the scene where they found a man trapped inside his smashed up vehicle. Firefighters had to use special tools to free the man, officers said. Paramedics at the scene rushed to help anyone who was injured. The scene was chaotic as they found several children with injuries. Police officers at the scene said that there were four boys, ages 3 months to 10 years, who were taken to a local hospital to receive treatment, along with a 29-year-old woman.

Two men were also involved in the accident. Officers reported that, sadly, one of them, identified as Recinos, was killed in the collision and pronounced dead at the scene. The other man sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene by paramedics.
