Modesto, CA (September 26, 2024) A two-vehicle collision in Modesto claimed one person’s life and left another injured. The accident occurred at the Carpenter Road Overpass, not far from South 9th Street, right around 2:30 in the afternoon, on Thursday, September 19th.
Initial reports indicated that a Toyota Tacoma and a Nissan Rogue were involved in the accident. For reasons that remain unknown, the two vehicles collided at the Carpenter Road Overpass, just south of South 9th Street. Dispatch began receiving 911 calls about the accident at 2:30 p.m., reports indicated.
Officers arrived at the scene and found the two damaged vehicles blocking the roadway. The woman driving the Nissan, a Hilmar resident, was rushed to a local hospital, via ambulance, with life-threatening injuries. The medical staff at the hospital did everything they could, but the woman’s injuries were too severe. She succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital. The driver of the Toyota was also injured, but reports indicated that those injuries were not life-threatening.

Following the initial investigation, officers do not believe that alcohol or drugs played a role in this collision. They are working to determine what exactly happened to cause this collision, as well as who was responsible.
