Chad S. Cahill Killed In Mother’s Day Collision In Hesperia

One injured in multi-vehicle crash on Highway 99 in Fresno.

Hesperia, CA (May 13, 2024) Sadness swept through Hesperia following a two-vehicle accident that claimed one person’s life on Mother’s Day. 32-year-old Chad S. Cahill, a resident of Victorville, was tragically killed in this collision. The tragic accident occurred just after 3:00 p.m. on Rock Springs Road, not too far from Glendale Avenue, according to reports. While most of the vehicles’ occupants sustained non-life-threatening injuries, one person was sadly killed in this accident.

It was a sunny Mother’s Day afternoon in Hesperia, as vehicles drove along Rock Springs Road. Two of the vehicles, a white older model Toyota Tacoma pick up truck and a white Jeep both traveling along Rock Springs Road, when they collided. Officers are still uncertain as to what caused this collision, however the Jeep sustained major front-end damage. The pickup also sustained major front-end damage, but the worst damage was received on the front driver’s side, reports indicated.

Firefighters were the first on the scene and found the two damaged vehicles sitting on the roadway. Debris and glass covered the ground and firefighters hurried to check on the occupants of both vehicles. They found the driver of the pickup, identified as Cahill, unresponsive. Nothing could be done, as he had been killed in the accident. Sadly, authorities pronounced Chad S. Cahill dead at the scene. Four other occupants in the Jeep sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

Cahill leaves behind children who no longer have a father. He was said to be loved by many and always thought and spoke positively about things. His family has created a GoFundMe page to help them with funeral costs during this difficult time. You can make a donation here.

Officers had to close the road for motorists heading east on Rock Springs Road as they investigated the scene and waited for the coroner, according to reports. The westbound lane remained open, allowing drivers to continue on the shoulder. The California Highway Patrol Victorville Station is leading this investigation and will determine what caused this fatal collision and who was at fault.
