Ventura, CA (October 7, 2023) A water truck overturned on Highway 101 in Ventura on Friday after hitting a Honday during a traffic jam. The California Highway Patrol responded to the incident near Sanjon Road.
The accident happened around 8:00 a.m. on October 6th. A water tanker truck, hauling nearly 3,000 gallons of water was driving on Highway 101 when it came upon a traffic jam. California Highway Patrol Sgt. Kevin Iden said the truck was from Ventura County Public Works.

The truck didn’t have enough time to slow down, so the driver swerved to avoid hitting other vehicles stopped on the highway. As it swerved, it hit the right rear corner of a Honda sedan, according to Sgt. Iden. The truck then overturned and landed on it’s side in the right two lanes of the highway.
Hazardous materials crews were called to help clean up spilled diesel and oil, wish the water from the truck had washed into a storm drain.
