Sanger City, CA (June 6, 2024) A vehicle traveling at speeds over 100 mph caused a collision on State Route 63 in Sanger City on Wednesday, June 5th. The accident left one person with serious injuries, according to reports. It all happened around 4:15 p.m. at State Route 180.
Initial reports indicated that a black Chevrolet Impala was traveling at speeds above 100 miles per hour along State Route 63. As it approached State Route 180, it didn’t slow down and ended up colliding with an SUV at a very high speed. Reports suggest that the Chevrolet may have been in a pursuit with the California Highway Patrol before the accident occurred. However, this has not been confirmed.
The California Highway Patrol arrived at the scene and found the vehicles in the middle of the roadway with major damage. Officials said that debris was thrown in every direction and became a traffic hazard on the highway. A Toyota Camry was driving along the highway and hit some of the debris. The passenger in the Toyota sustained a cut on her eyebrow because of the debris, officers said.
Paramedics hurried to the scene and took the passenger of the Toyota, along with others, to a nearby hospital to receive treatment for injuries they received in the accident. Officers said they also called for tow trucks to come to the scene and haul the badly damaged vehicles from the highway. It took crews a while to clear all of the debris from the roadway, according to reports.
