Pedro Ruiz Rivera, Nathaniel Perez Killed in Modesto Crash

Modesto, CA (June 17, 2024) In a terrible event, two young men were killed when their car crashed in Modesto.

The single-vehicle crash happened sometime before 1:30 a.m. on Sunday. Officers responded to the scene, located where West Hatch and South Carpenter Road meet. When they arrived, they found two men inside a 2008 Honda Accord. They were both pronounced dead at the scene.

The victims are 19-year-old Pedro Ruiz Rivera, and 20-year-old Nathaniel Perez. The Stanislaus County Coroner identified them on Monday, a day after the devastating accident.

Police are trying to piece together what happened in this tragedy. As of now, they believe the men were driving northbound on South Carpenter Road when they struck an island and signal light pole. This pole is located on the southeast corner of the intersection. Somehow, this collision was so intense that it resulted in severe damage and injuries to the passengers.

They have a working theory, but officers are still seeking answers. They are asking any witnesses to please contact the Modesto police with any information.
