San Luis Obispo, CA (October 7, 2024) 20-year-old passenger, Robert Hess, from Temecula, was killed in a collision on Saturday morning, October 5th, 2024. The single-vehicle accident occurred on O’Conner Way, just north of Foothill Boulevard. It happened just after 11:00 a.m. and officers reported that the vehicle finally came to a stop in a nearby field.
A white Ford Focus was heading south on O’Conner Way in San Luis Obispo on late Saturday morning. At approximately 11:08 a.m., the driver of the vehicle lost control on a curve and slammed into an embankment. The vehicle began to roll multiple times before coming to a stop in a field.
The California Highway Patrol arrived at the scene and found the smashed vehicle sitting in the field. It had left a trail of debris that led back to the roadway. Officers hurried to the vehicle to see if anyone had been injured. Sadly, they found 20-year-old Robert Hess unresponsive in the passenger seat. He had been killed in the accident and, with heavy hearts, officers pronounced him dead at the scene.
There is no word as to whether the driver of the vehicle was injured in this collision. Officers are investigating the accident in an effort to understand what exactly happened to cause this fatal collision in San Luis Obispo. A tow truck was called to the scene to remove the damaged Ford Focus and crews cleaned up the trail of debris that had been left behind.
