(Temecula, CA) A rollover accident kills Preston Obeidin along Highway 79 in Temecula.
California Highway Patrol reports the roll-over crash occurred at about 7:30 a.m. Sunday on Highway 79, killing Long Beach resident Preston Obeidin, 19.
Preston Obeidin was at the wheel of a 1998 Toyota 4Runner traveling northbound on Highway 79 when he drifted into southbound traffic, injuring two passengers.
Obeidin “over-corrected to the right” to get back on the northbound side of the two-lane corridor, losing control of the 4Runner, according to CHP Officer Mike Lassig.
“The Toyota crashed into a telephone pole, which was west of the roadway. The vehicle overturned on the dirt shoulder area and came to rest on its roof,” Lassig reported further.
Riverside Fire Department paramedics reached the location a short time later, pronouncing the Long Beach resident dead at the scene and his two passengers injured.
The front seat occupant suffered minor injuries, while the rear seat party suffered major injuries. Paramedics took both passengers to Inland Valley Medical Center in Wildomar.
