Castaic, CA (April 23, 2024) A three-vehicle collision in Castaic left two people with injuries on Monday afternoon, April 22nd. The multi-vehicle accident happened just before 1:00 p.m. on the northbound Interstate 5 Freeway, near Lake Hughes Road.
A white Toyota Camry, a white BMW sedan and a silver Hyundai Sonata were driving along the Interstate 5 Freeway, when they collided in the fast lane. Officers are still not certain what happened to cause this collision, but are diligently working to determine the cause. The three vehicles blocked at least two lanes of traffic on the freeway, following the collision.
The California Highway Patrol received the call about the multi-vehicle collision at approximately 12:48 p.m. They arrived at the scene, along with the Los Angeles County Fire Department and found three damaged vehicles. Officers began diverting traffic around the scene as paramedics searched the three vehicles for anyone who needed medical attention. They found two people who had sustained injuries during the collision, one of whom was seriously injured. Both victims were loaded into ambulances and taken to a local hospital for further treatment, officers said.
Investigators looked at every vehicle and took statements from those involved in the collision. They looked for any clues at the scene that might have helped them to determine what caused this collision on the Interstate 5 Freeway. They also hope to determine who was at fault for this multi-vehicle accident. Crews worked as quickly as they could to clear the roadway of debris following this accident, so that the blocked lanes could be re-opened.
