Two Injured In Tulare County Collision On Highway 43

One injured in multi-vehicle crash on Highway 99 in Fresno.

Tulare County, CA (March 12, 2024) An early morning collision on Highway 43 in Tulare County left two people with serious injuries. The California Highway Patrol reported that the accident occurred at 6:43 a.m., not far from Avenue 112 in Angiola. Two vehicles were involved and officers reported that both drivers sustained injuries, one of whom was air lifted with critical injuries.

A pickup truck and a car were traveling along Highway 43 early on Tuesday morning, March 12th, when they collided. There was a spark as one of the vehicles caught on fire. The fire began to grow and bystanders realized the driver was trapped. One of the bystanders rushed to the vehicle and broke out the driver’s side window. They were trying to pull the driver from the burning vehicle as emergency crews arrived at the scene.

Firefighters with the Tulare County Fire Department quickly put out the flames and extricated the driver from the vehicle. Paramedics reported that the man had a broken hip and a large laceration on their head. Reports from the accident indicate that the drivers of both vehicles were seriously injured. One was taken to Kaweah Medical Center via ambulance and the other was air lifted by a Sky Life helicopter in critical condition.

Officers requested tow trucks to come and remove both of the damaged vehicles from the roadway and crews cleaned the area of glass and debris. Investigators also worked the scene to determine what exactly took place on Highway 43 and who was at fault.
