Two killed in Rowland Heights after fleeing in police chase

ROWLAND HEIGHTS, CA (July 5, 2022) – Two people were killed in Rowland Heights after fleeing from a police chase when the driver slammed into another vehicle according to KTLA 5.

The high-speed pursuit started in La Habra Friday night around 10:40 p.m. when police attempted to stop a driver suspected of driving under the influence. The vehicle appeared to slow to stop near Harbor Boulevard and Arbolita Drive in La Habra, but immediately took off at high speed.

Police continued pursuing the vehicle through La Habra toward Rowland Heights when the suspected drunk driver crashed into another vehicle on Fullerton Road and Aguiro Street.

The scene was described to be a fiery wreck with both vehicles involved in the crash being mangled as a result.

The driver of the vehicle that fled from the police was killed on the scene along with one passenger. The driver of the second vehicle involved in the crash sustained minor injuries and was taken to the hospital.

Police have not released the identities of the two decedents in the crash while La Habra Police and California Highway Patrol investigators work on the case.
