Las Vegas, NV (March 10, 2024) A devastating collision in the southeast Las Vegas Valley claimed the lives of two teenagers early Saturday afternoon. 16-year-old Thomas Quintero, Jr. and 16-year-old Eduardo Barragan were both killed from blunt force injuries they sustained in the crash. The traumatic collision occurred right around 12:30 p.m. near Hacienda Avenue and Pecos Road, according to reports. Officers at the scene said the two teenagers weren’t wearing seat belts at the time of the crash and were both thrown from the vehicle.
Police officers at the scene later reported that a Pontiac G6 went through the intersection at Hacienda Avenue and Pecos Road on a red light. In doing so, the two teenagers ended up crashing into another vehicle who had the right of way. The force from the collision then sent the Pontiac slamming into a pole, officers said. The Pontiac was nearly split completely in two following the collision, officers said.

The two occupants of the Pontiac were both 16-year-old boys, later identified as Quintero, Jr. and Barragan, officers sadly reported. Police officers said that the boys weren’t wearing seat belts at the time of the crash, Both boys were ejected from the vehicle as a result. Paramedics found the passenger unresponsive and did everything they could to save him. Unfortunately, he was killed in the collision and they had to pronounce him dead at the scene. The 16-year-old driver was still alive, officers said, but sustained life-threatening injuries in the collision.
Paramedics quickly, but carefully, loaded the boy into the ambulance and rushed him to Sunrise Hospital to receive treatment. Sadly, the 16-year-old driver succumbed to his serious injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital. An officer at the scene said, “The Vehicle is completely split in half, and as a result of this, we have two people dead from this collision.”
