Kerman, CA (November 17, 2023) – A woman tragically lost her life on Thursday, November 16th, after being involved in a serious car crash on Highway 180 with a Fresno County Sheriff’s deputy in Fresno County, California. According to local news source ABC 30, the crash occurred around 5:20 a.m. in the area between Modoc Avenue and Siskiyou Avenues.
According to the Fresno County Sheriff’s office, the victim, who was an unhoused woman, was crossing east across 180 when a patrolling deputy accidentally struck her. Witnesses indicate that the woman may have been crossing to collect cans for recycling. The deputy immediately stopped to provide assistance and report the accident.

Sadly, despite life saving efforts from authorities, the woman passed away at the scene of the accident. Authorities have not released the identity of the woman, but she is believed to have been in her 60s.
