San Diego, CA (September 20, 2023) 2 people were killed in a wrong-way collision just after midnight on Route 76 in San Diego. The California Highway Patrol said it happened right at 12:01 a.m.
A small white SUV and a red Nissan Xterra SUV collided, head-on, on State Route 76 near Pala Mission Road, according to the California Highway Patrol online log report. Two people were killed in this wrong-way collision.

The San Diego Humane Society was called to the scene to assist with a dog, reported as a Pitbull, that was trapped inside one of the vehicles. Once the animal was freed, it was taken by an Animal Resource Officer for treatment for injuries sustained in the accident.
The California Highway Patrol was investigating the collision, but no further details were available at this time.
