Riverside, CA (August 29, 2024) The California Highway Patrol was called to the scene of a wrong-way collision on Saturday night, August 24th, 2024. The collision occurred on the 10 Freeway, not far from Monterey Avenue and Cook Street. Reports indicated that the accident took place right around 11:30 p.m. in the eastbound lanes, and left one person with injuries.
With headlights and streetlights guiding the way, motorists headed to destinations on a late summer night in Riverside. Suddenly, a black Honda sedan began traveling west in the eastbound lanes of the 10 Freeway. At approximately 11:30 p.m., it hit another vehicle, head-on, officers reported. Witnesses reported that the people involved in the collision got out of their vehicles and began fighting in the middle of the freeway.
CAL Fire Riverside County Paramedics arrived at the scene with the CHP. Paramedics found one person with significant injuries and transported them to a local hospital to receive treatment. Officers requested a tow truck to come and remove both of the damaged vehicles from the scene.
