Fresno, CA (June 13, 2024) A wrong-way collision in Fresno on Wednesday morning, June 12th, left two people with serious injuries. It all transpired in downtown Fresno at the intersection of M Street and Tulare Street, according to reports.
The Fresno Police Department stated that a Fresno Unified vehicle was heading towards the intersection of M Street and Tulare Street. At the same time, another vehicle was approaching the same intersection from the opposite direction. The driver of the vehicle ran the red light at the intersection and slammed into the Fresno Unified vehicle, head-on. The impact forced the SUV to overturn, officers reported.
Officers arrived at the scene and found the vehicles in the middle of the roadway, the SUV overturned. Debris and glass sprinkled the roadway in every direction and both vehicles had sustained major damage in the collision. Paramedics went to the vehicles, ready to give medical aid to anyone who needed it. They found the driver of the Fresno Unified SUV with serious injuries, as well as one person in the other vehicle. Both were loaded into ambulances and taken to a local hospital to receive treatment for undisclosed injuries.
Officers are working diligently to determine what caused this wrong-way collision in Fresno. At this time, they are uncertain if drugs or alcohol played a role in this collision. They plan to continue this investigation until every question has been answered.
