West Sacramento, CA (November 21, 2023) One person lost their life on Monday morning after a collision on Highway 50 in west Sacramento, according to the California Highway Patrol. The accident happened just after midnight, west of Jefferson Boulevard.
A 2015 Nissan lost control, for reasons still unknown, and crashed into the center divider on Highway 50. In the process, the vehicle also struck some temporary beams that were holding up the Sycamore Trail pedestrian overcrossing on the highway.

Emergency crews arrived at the scene and found the passenger in the vehicle unresponsive. They were pronounced dead at the scene and a coroner was called. Officers had to shut down westbound Highway 50 for a while as crews inspected the structural integrity of the overcrossing.
The California Highway Patrol reported that they suspect drugs or alcohol to be a factor in this collision. There were no updates on the driver’s condition, although it has been said that they did survive the collision.
