Carlsbad, CA (December 11, 2023) A 41-year-old man was injured and 40-year-old Lindsey Roberts was arrested following a police pursuit that ended in a collision. San Diego Sheriff’s Department Sgt. Christi Ramirez said the incident began around 9:15 p.m.
It began when a deputy, who was in Encinitas, saw a black Toyota Corolla drifting and swerving, unable to stay in its lane. They suspected that the driver may be under the influence of drugs or alcohol and attempted to pull over the Corolla. The driver didn’t stop, though, and led deputies on a chase through the streets of Carlsbad. The car got on Interstate 5 and deputies followed. Ramirez said that the car ran several red lights and also drove on the wrong side of the road.

The Corolla eventually crashed into two other vehicles at the intersection of El Camino Road and La Costa Avenue, authorities said. One of the vehicles that was hit went off the road. The driver, a 41-year-old man, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to a local hospital for treatment. The second car that was struck had two occupants, Ramirez said. The 18-year-old male who was driving and the passenger were both uninjured in the collision.
Lindsey Roberts was the only person in her Corolla, Ramirez reported. She was trapped inside her car and firefighters had to use specialized tools to extricate her. She was taken to the hospital for treatment for broken bones. She was later arrested for an outstanding felony arrest warrant as well as felony evading.
