Anahid Sarkissian Struck, Killed By DUI Driver In Burbank

Burbank, CA (July 2, 2024) Sadness covered the town of Burbank on Friday evening, June 28th, as word spread of a pedestrian’s death. 76-year-old Anahid Sarkissian was tragically killed while walking in the 400 block of East Olive Avenue. The fatal accident occurred around 4:30 p.m. by a DUI driver, who was arrested at the scene.

While walking down East Olive Avenue, 76-year-old Anahid Sarkissian, was suddenly struck by a vehicle. The force from the impact knocked Sarkissian several feet and she landed on the ground with life-threatening injuries, according to reports. The collision occurred in the 400 block, not far from Glenoaks Boulevard.

The Burbank Police Department arrived at the scene within minutes and found the elderly woman on the ground, motionless. They hurried to her side, prepared to administer life-saving treatment to the woman, but unfortunately, she had succumbed to her injuries. With heavy hearts, authorities pronounced Anahid Sarkissian dead at the scene and respectfully covered her body with a tarp.

The driver who struck the pedestrian remained at the scene. Officers discovered that the driver, identified as 64-year-old Burbank resident, Vincent Carnegie, was intoxicated at the time of the accident. He was arrested at the scene and booked into Burbank City Jail on charges of vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, according to reports.
