Emergency personnel arrived at the scene and hurried to the vehicles to help the injured. They first ran to the Toyota which had sustained the most damage and found the 31-year-old driver, a Brentwood man, unresponsive behind the wheel. Paramedics carefully removed him from the vehicle and gently placed him on a stretcher. They called for an air ambulance to come to the scene and the man was flown to a nearby hospital to receive treatment. Rau, who was driving the Chevy pickup, had a 26-year-old passenger in his vehicle. The Antioch man sustained serious, but non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to a local hospital, via ambulance to receive treatment. Rau was also taken to a hospital with minor injuries. Once the hospital released him, he was arrested by Brentwood Police Officers and booked into the Martinez Detention Facility. He not only faces DUI charges, but other charges as well, police officers said.
