Eli Lopez, 27, Killed In Fiery DUI Collision In Fresno County

Fresno County, CA (October 23, 2024) Kingsburg resident, Eli Lopez, 27, was killed in a fiery two-vehicle collision in Fresno County on Saturday night. The fatal collision occurred just after 11:00 p.m. on Manning Avenue, not far from Hill Avenue. A passenger in Lopez’s vehicle sustained major injuries in the accident, according to reports.

Lopez came to a complete stop in his Honda Accord at a posted stop sign on Manning Avenue, on Saturday night, October 19th, 2024. As he was stopped, a Honda Civic came up behind him, but didn’t slow down. The Civic slammed into the back of Lopez’s Honda, according to reports. The Accord that Lopez was driving caught on fire and was immediately engulfed in flames.

Emergency personnel arrived at the scene and rushed to the burning vehicle. They were able to remove a passenger in Lopez’s vehicle, who survived with major injuries. She was rushed to a local hospital to receive treatment. However, Lopez was pronounced dead at the scene by authorities.

Officers made their way to the vehicles that had slammed into Lopez’s car. They found three men inside, according to reports, and the driver was found to be under the influence of alcohol. He was identified as Jesus Zeferino, 24, and was arrested at the scene. He faces numerous charges, including gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and DUI resulting in death.
