Jesus Garcia arrested for killing 2 in DUI crash in Merced County

DOS PALOS, CA (June 3, 2022) – Jesus Garcia was arrested Wednesday for suspicion of DUI after crashing into a pole, killing two passengers in his car according to ABC 30 News.

The accident occurred around 4 p.m. on Highway 33 and Cypress Road.

Jesus Garcia was driving a 2004 Hyundai when he lost control of the car, causing it to flip over and crash into a pole and catch on fire. Garcia managed to escape the vehicle, while two passengers inside did not. They were declared dead at the scene.

Garcia was arrested for gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and DUI causing injury or death.

The two passengers who died were unidentified pending notification of next of kin.

Garcia was taken to the hospital for treatment of his injuries, and will be booked into Merced County Jail once he’s fit to be released.
