Passenger Killed In DUI Collision In Placer County

1 killed in Gardena rollover collision.

Placer County, CA (October 31, 2024) A 24-year-old woman from Yuba City, tragically lost her life on Tuesday morning in a DUI collision. It happened on Highway 65, not far from Nelson Lane in Placer County. Officers said they were dispatched around 1:20 a.m.

26-year-old Marysville resident, William Bryan Cubias-Martinez, was driving a vehicle on Highway 65 in Placer County in the middle of the night. Suddenly, the vehicle swerved off the roadway and flipped. Reports indicated that the vehicle rolled numerous times before finally coming to a stop.

The California Highway Patrol rushed to the scene and found the vehicle with damage to every side. They hurried, prepared to administer life-saving treatment to those inside. Sadly, they discovered that the 24-year-old passenger had been thrown from the vehicle as it rolled. She was pronounced dead at the scene, officers reported. The driver, however, was injured but alive. Officers determined that he had been driving under the influence at the time of the accident.

Paramedics took the driver to a local hospital for treatment. Once he was released, officers arrived and he was booked into the Placer County Jail where he is facing multiple charges.
