Las Vegas, Nevada (January 18, 2024) 22-year-old Suzanne Chapel lost her life on January 13th because of a drunk driver. The Nevada State police were called to the fatal collision at approximately 2:15 a.m. Chapel’s BMW was hit on Interstate 15 in Las Vegas by Christopher Lee Walker who was driving under the influence.
Suzanne Chapel was a passenger in a 2015 BMW that was having mechanical issues. The driver of the vehicle pulled over and stopped on the northbound left shoulder of the interstate. As they sat in the BMW on the side of the highway, Walker was driving north in a 2020 Chevy pickup. He was in the far-left lane and drifted onto the shoulder, where he hit the BMW. The Chevy eventually stopped on the shoulder of the interstate, according to the Nevada State Police Highway Patrol. The BMW spun around before it came to a stop, partially on the left shoulder and partially in the left lane of traffic. Reports indicate that both vehicles first struck a median wall before they came to a rest.

Emergency crews rushed to the scene and, sadly, found Chapel unresponsive. She was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the BMW was injured and taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Walker was also taken to a local hospital for injuries he sustained in the accident. Officers determined that he had been driving while under the influence at the time of this fatal collision. Walker faces several charges including DUI resulting in death, DUI resulting in bodily harm and reckless driving resulting in death or substantial bodily harm, according to authorities.
A friend of Suzanne Chapel’s family created a GoFundMe account to help the family cover funeral costs. Chapel’s tragic death took her away from her 5-month-old daughter as well as other family members and numerous friends.
