Bakersfield, CA (June 30, 2024) A motorcyclist was injured in a collision with a Bakersfield Police Officer near Panorama Bluffs on Thursday, June 27th. The collision occurred just minutes after 11:00 p.m. on Panorama Drive at the River Boulevard intersection. The collision injured the motorcyclist, but they are said to be in stable condition.
It all started with a 911 call about a possible suicidal suspect. A Bakersfield Police Department officer responded to the call and headed to Panorama Drive at River Boulevard. As he approached the area, he believed he saw the suicidal person and started to make a U-Turn. As the officer made the U-Turn, a motorcycle was headed down the road, and the officer collided with the motorcycle. The rider was thrown from his motorcycle and landed, hard, on the ground.
The Bakersfield Police Department arrived at the scene and found the motorcyclist on the ground. The police officer was at the scene, trying to help the victim, officers reported. Paramedics loaded the motorcyclist into an ambulance and transported them to a Kern Medical Hospital to receive treatment. The medical staff has reported that the motorcyclist is in stable condition.
Officers began investigating the scene and are trying to determine who was at fault for this injury accident. The motorcycle had to be removed from the scene and crews picked up the pieces of debris that were left behind. Reports indicated that the investigation into this collision is ongoing.
