Clovis, CA (August 29, 2024) Sadness and outrage covered the community of Clovis as word spread of a motorcyclist killed by a DUI driver. It all started around 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday morning, August 28th, 2024. An SUV struck a motorcyclist at the intersection of Sunnyside Avenue and Barstow Avenue. Tragically, the motorcyclist did not survive.

It was a late summer morning as a motorcyclist rode west on Barstow Avenue in Clovis. As the motorcyclist approached the intersection of Sunnyside Avenue, a red SUV pulled out in front of it. The rider had no time to react and couldn’t avoid hitting the SUV. The two vehicles collided, throwing the rider from the motorcycle. They landed on the ground and rolled a few times before coming to a stop in the middle of the roadway.

The Clovis Police Department arrived at the scene and found the motorcyclist on the ground and began life-saving measures as they waited for paramedics to arrive. Paramedics rushed the victim to a nearby hospital to receive treatment. Sadly, somewhere between the scene and the hospital, but the motorcyclist succumbed to their injuries and were pronounced dead.

Officers at the scene determined that the woman driving the SUV was intoxicated and placed her under arrest. Her SUV, as well as the motorcycle, were hauled from the scene as evidence and crews cleaned up the debris that remained on the roadway.
