Oroville, CA (June 17, 2024) An accident occurred in Oroville just after midnight on Monday, June 17th. News reports indicated that a vehicle struck a scooter in Butte County, leaving two people seriously injured. The accident took place at the intersection of Monte Vista Avenue and Lincoln Boulevard, reports indicated.
It was mere minutes after midnight on Monday, June 17th, as two people rode a scooter through the streets of Oroville in the dark. As they went through the intersection of Monte Vista Avenue and Lincoln Boulevard, a vehicle approached the scooter from behind. Suddenly, the vehicle got too close and hit and the back of the scooter, officers reported. The two riders were thrown from the scooter and landed, hard, on the ground.
Officers with the California Highway Patrol arrived at the scene and found the scooter with rear-end damage and the two riders on the ground. The SUV was sitting near the scene, its headlights shining on the road in front of it. Officers rushed to the two injured people and called for ambulances to come to the scene. Both riders were loaded into the ambulances and rushed to Enloe Health to receive treatment for serious injuries.
Detectives gathered evidence at the scene and are working to determine what caused this accident between a scooter and an SUV in Oroville. The scooter had to be hauled from the scene following the investigation, officers reported. As of now, the California Highway Patrol has reported that there have been no arrests. They are still working on this case.
