Visalia, CA (April 26, 2024) Sadness blanketed the community of Visalia on Thursday evening, following a collision that claimed a motorcyclist’s life. The fatal accident took place at the intersection of Coppola Avenue and Demaree Street right around 5: 30 p.m., reports indicated. The victim was rushed to a local hospital, but sadly, succumbed to their injuries.
A motorcyclist was riding along Coppola Avenue, approaching the intersection of Demaree Street. At the same time, an SUV was heading south on Demaree, approaching the same intersection. Initial investigations indicated that the SUV made a left turn onto Coppola Avenue as the motorcycle entered the intersection. The motorcyclist had no time to react and slammed into the side of the SUV.
The Visalia Police Department arrived at the scene and found the SUV with major damage to its right side. The motorcycle was busted and smashed and laid in the middle of the intersection. The rider was also on the ground with life-threatening injuries, officers said. Paramedics quickly loaded the motorcyclist into an ambulance and rushed them to a local hospital. The medical staff did everything they could, but unfortunately, the motorcyclist succumbed to their injuries. Sadly, they were pronounced dead at the hospital.
Officers at the scene do not believe drugs or alcohol were factors in this accident. They are currently investigating this fatal collision to determine what exactly happened in that Visalia intersection. The motorcycle had to be hauled from the scene and crews cleaned up debris that was left on the roadway.
