Rancho Penasquitos, CA (September 12, 2024) Two woman were seriously injured, following a pedestrian accident in Rancho Penasquitos on Wednesday evening, September 11th, 2024. Two women in their 60s were crossing a street when they were struck by a vehicle. It happened at the intersection of Park Village Road and Rumex Lane, according to reports.
An 18-year-old woman was driving a 2015 Honda Fit, approaching the intersection of Park Village Road and Rumex Lane. As she approached, two women in their 60s stepped into the intersection, within the crosswalk. Reports indicated that the driver did not see the two women and hit them as they walked north. The impact knocked both women to the ground with serious injuries. The driver pulled over and waited for officers to arrive at the scene.

Emergency crews arrived at the scene and found the two women lying on the ground, injured. An ambulance was called to the scene and the two women were rushed to a local hospital. One had sustained life-threatening injuries, including a brain bleed and a skull fracture. The other also had a smaller brain bleed and a broken right humerus.
Reports indicated that investigators interviewed the driver and do not believe she was intoxicated at the time of the accident. They are working to determine what caused this pedestrian accident in Rancho Penasquitos.
