San Diego, CA (September 29, 2023) 2 pedestrians were injured after they were hit by a compact car in La Jolla on Thursday evening. The San Diego Police Department said they received the call about the collision a little before 8:30 p.m.
The accident happened on the 8700 block of Gilman Drive when 2 pedestrians walked from the west curb of Gilman Avenue. At the same time, a red 2017 Toyota iM was heading south on Gilman Drive. The pedestrians, identified as a 73-year-old woman and a 49-year-old woman, stepped in front of the Toyota, according to Officer Robert Heims.

One of the women sustained a brain bleed and a fractured pelvis while the other woman had injuries to her left leg and complained of pain in her back. Paramedics transported both women to a local hospital where they received treatment for non-life-threatening injuries.
Officer Heims said that they do not believe drugs or alcohol were a factor in this accident. The department’s Traffic Division is currently investigating the accident.
