A 76-year-old woman was driving a vehicle through the Torrey Pines neighborhood when she headed through an intersection on Clairemont Drive. She told officers that she had a green light and continued driving through it. As she did, the 72-year-old pedestrian stepped onto the crosswalk and began crossing the street. The woman behind the wheel had no time to stop and ended up hitting the pedestrian.

The San Diego Police Department arrived at the scene and found the pedestrian on the ground, unresponsive. They hurried to the man’s side, ready to begin life-saving measures, but he had been killed in the accident. Authorities pronounced him dead at the scene and called for a coroner. The driver of the vehicle immediately stopped and cooperated with authorities, following the accident.
