Carpinteria, CA (August 9, 2024) The community of Carpinteria was left in shock as news spread of an 8-year-old boy being struck by a vehicle. The accident occurred on Wednesday, August 7th, on Casitas Pass Road. The child was rushed to a hospital where he underwent emergency surgery, following the accident, reports indicated.
A 2017 Nissan Versa was driving down Casitas Pass Road on Wednesday, August 7th. As he traveled along the 1500 block, he struck an 8-year-old boy, according to the CHP. The force threw the child several feet before a hard landing on the ground. The driver immediately stopped and called 911, remaining at the scene with the child, who was obviously very injured.
Emergency crews arrived at the scene and found the driver standing near the vehicle, obviously upset. The child was found on the ground. He was alive but had sustained serious injuries in the collision. Paramedics hurried to the boys’ side and found him with critical injuries. He was quickly placed in an ambulance and rushed to a local hospital. Upon arrival, the child immediately went into emergency surgery, officers reported.

The driver of the vehicle cooperated during the investigation at the scene, officers said. They are working as quickly and thoroughly as possible to determine what exactly caused this accident in Carpinteria. The California Highway Patrol is leading this investigation.
