Bakersfield, CA (October 18, 2024) An 8-year-old child was struck and injured by a vehicle in Bakersfield on Wednesday, October 16th, 2024. The accident occurred at the intersection of Bank Street and Holtby Road around 1:45 p.m., according to reports.
Not far from Roosevelt Elementary School in Bakersfield, an 8-year-old child was walking along Bank Street. As they approached the intersection of Holtby Road, a vehicle also approached the intersection. For reasons that remain unknown, the vehicle struck the child, knocking them to the ground. The driver immediately stopped and called 911, while staying at the child’s side.
Dispatch received the call at approximately 1:45 that afternoon. The Bakersfield Fire Department arrived at the scene and found the stopped vehicle and the child on the ground. Paramedics ran to the child’s side and began giving them medical aid. The child was rushed to Kern Medical, via ambulance, where they remain in critical condition, according to reports.
