Bakersfield, CA (June 21, 2024)
A pedestrian was left in critical condition after they were struck by a car in Bakersfield on Thursday night. The crash reportedly happened shortly before 10 p.m.
A witness called the Bakersfield Police Department around that time to report that someone had been hit by a car. Authorities rushed to the scene at the 200 block of South Brown Street. Tragically, when they arrived, the pedestrian was very obviously hurt.
Medics rushed the victim to the hospital for treatment of their severe injuries. As of the last report, they were in critical condition.
The driver of the vehicle that hit the pedestrian remained on the scene with the officers. They are apparently cooperating with investigators. Reports say that alcohol and drugs do not seem to be involved in this incident.
