San Diego, CA (August 15, 2024) A fatal hit-and-run occurred in Imperial Beach on Wednesday, August 14. Deputies responded to a call about a crash shortly before 11 p.m. last night and found a woman on the ground who had been struck by a vehicle.
Paramedics tried to save the woman, but she tragically succumbed to her injuries. Her identity has not been disclosed.
The driver who struck the woman fled the scene, but police found him afterward. He was booked into San Diego Central Jail on suspicion of felony
charges of manslaughter, driving under the influence with injury and hit-and-run with great bodily injury or death.
Update (8/19): The victim has been identified as 44-year-old Tamara Chambers.
