San Diego, CA (August 22, 2023) A man is dead after being hit by a trash truck in downtown San Diego on Tuesday morning, according to the San Diego Police Department. Reports state that the victim was in the roadway when the trash truck ran over him.

Officer Sarah Foster of the San Diego Police Department said the man crawled from the west sidewalk into the street where he was run over by the trash truck. It happened at 1000 Sixth Avenue around 5:23 a.m. Foster said the victim was in his 30s.
The privately owned trash truck, driven by a 59-year-old man, was traveling south when he struck the victim. At this point, the victim was laying in the middle of the roadway, according to Foster. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. SDPD is investigating the cause of this accident.
