Juvenile Pedestrian Seriously Injured In El Dorado County Accident

9-year-old boy struck and injured in front of Birney Elementary School in Fresno.

El Dorado County, CA (April 22, 2024) A juvenile was walking in a rural area located just southwest of Placerville when they were struck by a pickup truck. It happened at the intersection of Oak Dell Road and Pleasant Valley Road at approximately 11:30 a.m. The collision occurred near Union Mine High School and Charles Brown Elementary School.

An area in El Dorado County is near rural schools and often has children and teenagers walking, running and riding bikes in the area. Earlier this week, a young pedestrian was walking near the intersection of Oak Dell Road and Pleasant Valley Road when they were hit by a pickup truck. A resident of the area said that the speed limit is 45 mph, which seems too high when you have juveniles walking in the area near schools.

The California Highway Patrol arrived at the scene and found the juvenile on the ground. They had sustained serious injuries in the accident and officers called for an ambulance. Paramedics arrived and evaluated the young pedestrian before loading them into an ambulance and rushing them to a local hospital to receive treatment. The driver of the pickup truck remained at the scene and cooperated with police officers during their investigation, reports indicated.

The California Highway Patrol Traffic Collision Unit is leading this investigation. They are determined to understand what exactly caused this pedestrian accident in El Dorado County.
