Los Angeles, CA (May 22, 2024) A tragic accident occurred in Los Angeles, near Gardena, claiming the life of 64-year-old Louis Williams. It happened on Tuesday, May 21st before the sun rose, according to the California Highway Patrol. Williams was walking when he was struck by a vehicle at the intersection of West Rosecrans Avenue and South Broadway.
At approximately 4:16 a.m., Louis Williams was walking near the Harbor (110) Freeway in Los Angeles. Suddenly, a vehicle approached and, with no warning, struck Williams at the intersection of West Rosecrans Avenue and South Broadway. The impact knocked Williams to the ground, where he remained with fatal injuries. The driver of the vehicle stopped at the scene and waited for police officers to arrive.

The California Highway Patrol received the 911 call reporting a pedestrian on the ground, according to Officer Erik Larson with the CHP. They arrived at the scene and located Williams on the ground, motionless. Paramedics were ready to give him life-saving measures, but sadly, he had been killed in the accident. With heavy hearts, authorities pronounced Williams dead at the scene and called for the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner’s Office to send a coroner.
The accident is being investigated by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. They are working diligently to try and determine what caused this accident in Los Angeles in the early hours of Tuesday morning. During the initial investigation, officers closed West Rosecrans Avenue so they could gather evidence and investigate this fatal accident.
