Man In Wheelchair Struck, Killed By Truck In North Las Vegas

Wendy Coffman, 60, struck and killed by hit-and-run driver in Fresno.

North Las Vegas, NV (May 20, 2024) Tragedy struck north Las Vegas on Friday morning when a man in a wheelchair was struck and killed by a truck. Police officers reported that the fatal accident took place on Main Street and Owens Avenue at approximately 11:15 a.m. on May 17th.

A man in a wheelchair was crossing the street at the intersection of Main Street and Owens Avenue, late Friday morning, as a truck approached. The truck continued through the intersection, striking the wheelchair. The man was thrown from the wheel chair and landed in the middle of the intersection, reports indicated. The wheel chair, smashed and damaged, fell over and laid in the roadway.

The North Las Vegas Police Department arrived at the scene and found the wheelchair and the man on the ground. The driver of the truck had stopped and was waiting for authorities, following this horrible accident. Paramedics rushed to the victim’s side and began life-saving measures. The victim was loaded into an ambulance and rushed to a nearby hospital where he was later pronounced dead, according to reports.

Officers investigated the scene and do not believe that drugs or alcohol were factors in this fatal accident. Speed does not seem to a factor, either. Officers took a statement from the driver of the truck, as well as witnesses in the area. They are working diligently to try and figure out what exactly happened at this North Las Vegas intersection.
