Mother And 2 Children Struck And Injured By Car In Fresno

Erasto Dominguez-Castro struck and killed in Palm Springs

Fresno, CA (September 7, 2023) A woman and 2 children were injured on Thursday morning after being hit by a car in Fresno, according to the Fresno Police Department. The accident took place near Birney Elementary School around 7:30 a.m.

The Fresno Police Department told Fox 26 News that a 70-year-old woman was driving a red Volkswagen Beetle east on Princeton Avenue. A mother in her 30s and her 4 children, were crossing First Street between Princeton Avenue and Simpson Avenue. They were crossing within the crosswalk when the Volkswagen turned onto First Street, hitting the mother and 2 of her children.

Paramedics arrived at the scene and took a 4-year-old and an 11-year-old, along with their mother, to a local hospital. Reports state that the older child was dragged down the street by the vehicle and one of the victims went up and over the hood of the car, hitting and smashing the windshield. The mother suffered a lower left leg injured and the 4-year-old complained of pain as well.

The woman driving the Volkswagen stopped after the crash and cooperated with law enforcement. However, witnesses at the scene told police officers that the woman drove through a red light, hitting the mother and children. Authorities are still investigating this accident.
