Ludlow, CA (June 5, 2024) A tragic accident left the town of Ludlow under a veil of sadness on Saturday, June 1st. The collision occurred in the middle of the night and claimed the life of 21-year-old Houston, Texas, resident, Nicaria Gordon-Johnson. The accident occurred on the 40 Freeway just after 2:00 a.m., according to officers.
It was the middle of the night in Ludlow, as Gordon-Johnson drove a rented Nissan SUV along the 40 Freeway. As she drove through the darkness, she noticed the vehicle began having issues. She managed to pull onto the right shoulder of the freeway before the vehicle died. Gordon-Johnson got out of the SUV and was struck by a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck. The force from the impact threw her onto the freeway, officers said.
The California Highway Patrol arrived at the scene and found Gordon-Johnson lying on the roadway, unresponsive. They hurried to her side, ready to give life-saving treatment, but unfortunately, she had been killed in the accident. Sadly, officers pronounced Nicaria Gordon-Johnson dead at the scene. A tarp was gently laid over her body and officers waited for the San Bernardino County Coroner to arrive at the scene.
The disabled vehicles that Gordon-Johnson was driving was hauled from the scene by a tow truck. Officers gathered evidence at the scene and took a statement from the driver of the pickup truck that struck Gordon-Johnson on the freeway.
