Leimert Park, Los Angeles, CA (March 20, 2024) A sad situation occurred in Leimert Park when a pedestrian was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver on Monday, March 18th. 25-year-old Owen Coolidge was walking in the 1900 block of West Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard when he was hit and killed by a vehicle that quickly fled the scene. It all happened at approximately 8:45 p.m., according to officers.
The Los Angeles Police Department arrived at the scene on W. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, between Normandie Avenue and Western Avenue. Upon arrival, they found Coolidge lying on the ground with life-threatening injuries. The vehicle that struck Coolidge was nowhere to be found, though. Paramedics quickly administered life-saving measures in an attempt to save Owen Coolidge’s life, but unfortunately, there was nothing they could do. Sadly, he was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency personnel.
Investigators searched the area for evidence in an attempt to figure out what exactly happened in Leimert Park. They are also determined to figure out who was driving the vehicle and bring them to justice. The city of Los Angeles is offering a reward up to $50,000 to anyone with information that leads to the suspect’s arrest.
