Lake Elsinore, CA (August 3, 2024) Tragedy struck the community of Lake Elsinore on Friday morning when a pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle. Right around 9:40 a.m. on August 2nd, a vehicle struck the pedestrian at the intersection of Bushman Avenue and Lakeshore Drive. according to reports.
Mid-Friday morning found a pedestrian walking through Lake Elsinore, officers reported. The pedestrian was walking at the intersection of Bushman Avenue and Lakeshore Drive when a vehicle approached. For reasons that are still unknown, the vehicle struck the pedestrian. The impact sent the pedestrian flying through the air before they landed in the middle of the roadway, reports indicated. The driver of the vehicle immediately stopped and waited for authorities to arrive.
The Riverside County Sheriff’s Office hurried to the scene and found the victim on the ground. Deputies began life-saving measures as they waited for paramedics to arrive. The American Medical Response arrived at the scene and they did everything they could, but the pedestrian’s injuries were just too severe, officers reported. Finally, realizing nothing more could be done, they pronounced the victim dead at the scene and called for a coroner.
Update: The victim of this terrible crash has been identified as Michael Conzelman (42) of Newport Beach.
Officers began investigating the scene in an effort to better understand what exactly happened to claim this pedestrian’s life. They do not believe that drugs or alcohol played a role in this accident, according to reports. Sgt. Brad Foster with the Riverside Sheriff’s Department said the driver of the vehicle was cooperative during the investigation. He also reported that the investigation remains ongoing as they work to determine what exactly happened and who was at fault.
