Pedestrian Fatally Struck On I-80 In Yolo County

Three pedestrians injured in Sacramento hit-and-run.

Yolo County, CA (November 10, 2023) A pedestrian lost their life on Thursday evening while trying to cross Interstate 80 in Yolo County, California. Right around 5:45 p.m. on westbound Interstate 80, just west of Mace Boulevard, the pedestrian was struck by a vehicle, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The pedestrian was trying to cross the interstate at the time of the collision. As they attempted this feat, they were struck by a Ford. The California Highway Patrol reported that, following the collision, the pedestrian fell in the far left lane and was then run over by a Toyota.

Paramedics arrived at the scene to find the pedestrian severely injured and lying on Interstate 80. Paramedics were ready to perform life-saving measures on the pedestrian, but sadly, they were pronounced dead at the scene, instead.

The drivers of both the Ford and the Toyota remained at the scene following the collision and cooperated with authorities. The California Highway Patrol said they do not believe drugs or alcohol to be a factor in this fatal accident on Interstate 80.

Officers are investigating the scene to determine what happened that led to the pedestrian being struck by the first vehicle. Authorities hope to learn more about this Interstate 80 accident in Yolo County.
