San Jose, CA (August 26, 2023) A pedestrian walking through an intersection was hit and killed by a vehicle Thursday evening near Interstate 680, according to authorities. The accident occurred near the city limits between San Jose and Milpitas around 9:28 p.m.

It happened at the intersection of Landess Avenue and Morrill Avenue not far from Interstate 680. A man was driving a 2007 Lexus sedan east on Landess Avenue and crossed the intersection at Morrill Avenue. The light was green as he drove through, according to police. He struck the pedestrian who was crossing the street in a marked crosswalk.
Police said the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Lexus stayed at the scene and cooperated with police officers.
