San Diego, CA (September 11, 2023) A pedestrian was hospitalized on Sunday night after being hit by a vehicle. The San Diego Police Department said the pedestrian was in a crosswalk at the time of the accident.

It began around 7:43 p.m. when a 70-year-old pedestrian walked west on College Avenue through Redwood Village. He began crossing the street at Streamview Drive within the crosswalk, when he was struck by a vehicle. Authorities said it was a dark colored sedan, driving west on Streamview Drive. The vehicle made a left turn onto College Avenue and hit the pedestrian in the crosswalk.
The driver didn’t stop but instead, fled the scene. The San Diego Police Department said the pedestrian was taken to a local hospital for treatment of a brain bleed, fractured wrist, and a fractured thumb.
San Diego Police Department’s Traffic Division is investigating the collision. They do not know at this time if drugs or alcohol were a factor in this collision.
