San Diego, CA (October 10, 2023) A pedestrian sustained serious injuries after being hit by a Jeep in the Otay Mesa neighborhood of San Diego. According to the San Diego Police Department, the accident happened just after midnight on Tuesday.
A 23-year-old woman was walking south, crossing the intersection at the west side of 6500 Otay Mesa Road and 1600 Heritage Road. It was shortly after midnight, according to Officers Fisher of the San Diego Police Department, when she was struck by an SUV. A 2016 Jeep Compass.

Authorities said there were no street signs and no crosswalk. The Jeep was driving east on Otay Mesa Road when the 61-year-old driver hit the pedestrian.
The pedestrian sustained a laceration to the head, a pelvic fracture, abrasions to the elbow and abdominal area in the collision. The driver of the SUV was unhurt.
Officers at the scene said that alcohol and drugs didn’t play a role in this accident.
