San Diego, CA (October 23, 2023) A pedestrian was struck and injured on Interstate 5 on Sunday, October 22nd, after experiencing car trouble on the freeway, according to the California Highway Patrol logs. A person stepped out of the disabled vehicle and was hit by another vehicle on Interstate 5.
Police officers were notified about a stalled vehicle in the No. 3 lane of Interstate 5 just before 8:30 p.m. on Sunday. The car stalled just south of the State Route 94 off-ramp and the driver turned on their hazard lights.

Reports indicate that a person then left the vehicle and ran across the freeway towards the shoulder when they were hit by a vehicle driving down the freeway. Medics were called to the scene and started CPR on the pedestrian, who was then transported to Scripps Mercy Hospital shortly after 9:00 p.m.
The freeway was closed for hours as authorities moved the disabled vehicle and investigated the accident.
